WERC

About us

WERC is a consortium for environmental education and technology development. The consortium’s mission is to develop the human resources and technologies needed to address environmental issues. WERC has come to be widely recognized for its commitment to the nation’s environment and natural resources.

WERC’s threefold program aims to achieve environmental excellence through education, public outreach, and technology development and deployment. Its successes are many, with an active higher education program to support students pursuing environmentally related degrees, an outreach program that reaches thousands of children and hundreds of regional businesses and agencies, and a technology development effort that has resulted in a number of new environmental technologies.

Originally known as the Waste-management Education and Research Consortium, the organization is now called WERC: A Consortium for Environmental Education and Technology Development which reflects our broader mission and accomplishments.

WERC is a partnership that leverages environmental expertise from throughout New Mexico. Consortium members include:
